user problem

This project was looking to solve how to design a better guest book for weddings that would allow guests to contribute their anecdotes about the couple and their family. At weddings that I’ve been to in the past, guest books have been associated with long lines of people waiting to sign, difficulty coming up with creative messages on the spot, how to not just rewrite what was already written in the card, or an overwhelming number of similar messages for best wishes and congratulations. This project’s goal is to create a guest book that will both form a cherished keepsake for the couple and also highlight the very reason why the guests are at the wedding—because of the relationships and history they have with the couple and their family.

how it works

Card sets are comprised of 5 prompts in packs of 25 cards. The prompts ask the following questions:

  • Tell a funny story about the couple:
  • How do you know the couple?
  • Tell the couple a family story:
  • What advice do you have for the newlyweds?
  • Leave a message for the newlyweds:

These cards were sold through an Etsy store to other brides and had their first round of user testing during my own wedding where I used a set as my own guest book.

Each card has a prompt, place to write a story, and an attribution line.
